Happy New Year!
Sending all the positive vibes to everyone for 2026. I hope you accomplish all of your goals!
I was surprised to find that I wasn’t aware of as many movies or tv shows that are coming out in 2026. But I mean, with what’s going on in our country, I’m not very surprised. But, movies/shows always pop up throughout the year that I didn’t know about, so they may not appear on this list. I’m going to also try to do trailer reactions to a lot of these and add them to the list!
As per usual, I will also have a list of movies/tv shows that I’m not really anticipating but I still would be interested in seeing.
Anticipated Movies/Shows I Really Want To See
January
All You Need Is Kill – Jan 16: In a time loop during an alien invasion, a resourceful but isolated young woman must navigate the repetition of death until she crosses paths with a shy young man trapped in the same cycle. Together, they fight to break free from the loop. I loooove this manga and if you’ve ever seen Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, that movie is based on the manga and now they’re making a movie based on the actual manga. The artwork is interesting. I have the manga on my bookshelf and I plan to reread before watching.
February
March
Ready Or Not 2: Here I Come- March 27: After surviving one deadly game, Grace and her sister Faith must now outrun four rival families competing for a powerful throne – winner takes all. I really like the first one. I need to rewatch. I didn’t think there needed to be a sequel but here we are, so I’m curious to see how things go. Sucks that it happens right after the first one ends so Grace literally is still stuck in that wedding dress.
April
The Drama – Apr 3: A happily engaged couple is put to the test when an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails. I haven’t seen a trailer yet but Zendaya and Robert Pattinson? Nice. I saw some behind the scenes and I could see the chemistry. Honestly, Zendaya has chemistry with everyone.
Super Mario Galaxy Movie – Apr 3: Mario ventures into space, exploring cosmic worlds and tackling galactic challenges far from the familiar Mushroom Kingdom. I enjoyed the first one and I think this looks fun.
You, Me and Tuscany – Apr 10: When a woman crashes at an empty Italian villa, posing as the owner’s fiancée, she discovers an unexpected romance that may transform her life. I’m going to support a black romance that doesn’t seem to be rooted around trauma. Plus, I like Halle Bailey.
Michael – April 14: The story of the famous musician Michael Jackson, known as the King of Pop. I am such a fan of Michael Jackson and this movie was supposed to come out in 2025. I saw the teaser and I gasped when he spoke. I’m still interested and I hope it’s good.
May
The Devil Wears Prada 2 – May 1: Follows Miranda Priestly’s struggle against Emily Charlton, her former assistant turned rival executive, as they compete for advertising revenue amidst declining print media while Miranda nears retirement. Whoa a sequel to the iconic The Devil Wears Prada? Sure, sign me up.
I Love Boosters – May 22: Follows a group of shoplifters who take aim at a cutthroat fashion maven. I haven’t seen a trailer or anything but three female black leads? Let’s go.
June
July
Moana – July 10: Live-action adaptation of the 2016 Disney animated film ‘Moana’. The movie is pretty young to have a live action adaptation but I’m going to watch and support Catherina Laga’aia as Moana specifically. I liked the teaser and I thought she sounded great.
The Odyssey – July 19: After the Trojan War, Odysseus faces a dangerous voyage back to Ithaca, meeting creatures like the Cyclops Polyphemus, Sirens, and Circe along the way. I’m not gonna lie, I’ve never read this story but I am a little familiar, but the cast is stacked.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day – Jul 31: Peter Parker tries to focus on college and leave Spider-Man behind. But when a new threat endangers his friends, he must break his promise and suit up again, teaming with an unexpected ally to protect those he loves. Love Spider-Man, love Tom Holland as Spider-Man and I haven’t seen him on my screen in a minute. I really hope he gets the chance to do other movies that are good outside of Spider-Man and him having this and The Odyssey. But I like this version of the character so I’m curious to see how the story unfolds and what Sadie Sink’s role is.
August
September
Practical Magic 2 – Sept 18: A multi generational family of witches, cursed to be loveless for centuries, attempts to break the spell by confronting dark secrets and sacrificing for each other. Love the first one so interested to see what’s going on here. Plus, Nicole Kidman as a redhead again? Nice.
October
Michael – Oct 3: The story of the famous musician Michael Jackson, known as the King of Pop. I am such a fan of Michael Jackson, that when I heard about this and that Jermaine Jackson’s son Jaafar Jackson is playing his uncle, I was like oh wow. I hope he can act lol. I listened to him sing and he sounds like a Jackson lol. But I think the cast is quite good so I’m interested. I hope it’s good.
November
Sunrise on the Reaping – Nov 20: Explores Panem 24 years before Katniss’ saga, starting on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games, where a young Haymitch Abernathy participates. Definitely super interested in this movie which is saying a lot for me as I don’t like the world of The Hunger Games. But I do like Haymitch and I did overall enjoy his story, you can read my book review here.
December
Avengers Doomsday – Dec 18: Plot under wraps. Surprisingly I still haven’t watched the trailer for this. I’m goin to wait until the second trailer to do a trailer reaction. I haven’t been following it much either but I know a lot of characters are in this and there’s been some leaks about character appearances. I don’t know but of course I’m there.
Dune Part 3 – Dec 18: It follows Muad’dib, heir to unimaginable power, as he brings to fruition the ancient scheme to create a superbeing ruler among men, not in the heavens. I think these movies are so good and even though part 1 and 2 are separate parts, I think they’re probably best viewed together. I need to do a rewatch myself as I’ve only seen Part 2 once and I never reviewed either movie. But I’m invested in this story for the time being. I’ve only ever read Dune but nothing past that and I’m not sure if I’m interested in much more past Paul’s story past the first book.
DATES TBD
Avatar The Last Airbender – Season 2 (Netflix): A young boy known as the Avatar must master the four elemental powers to save the world, and fight against an enemy bent on stopping him. I need to rewatch the first season but I had a good time and I think the animated show is one of the greatest animated shows of all time. I think the live action is good, not great but there’s potential. I haven’t watched the trailer yet but I’m there.
Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew – Nov 26 (Netflix): The secret passage to the house next door leads to a fascinating adventure. I loooove Chronicles of Narnia and I’m excited to hear that Greta Gerwig is trying her hand at these movies and I think she could do a good job (more like Little Women and not like Barbie).
The Bear – Season 5 (FX): A young chef from the fine dining world returns to Chicago to run his family’s sandwich shop. It’s been a minute since I watched S4 and I thought it was good but of course S1 has been hard to top for this show. With the way it ended, I am curious to see where they go next at least. I’m unfortunately invested in Carmy and I love Sydney so lol.
One Piece – Season 2 (Netflix): With his straw hat and ragtag crew, young pirate Monkey D. Luffy goes on an epic voyage for treasure. I will never watch this anime but I like the live action first season so I’ll be here for the second one.
Movies/Shows I’m Not Anticipating but Want To See:
January:
His & Hers – Jan 8(Netflix): A journalist investigates a murder in her hometown, clashing with a suspicious detective. Two sides to every story – someone is lying. It’s really because I saw Tessa Thompson and I said okay!
Night Patrol – Jan 16: An L.A. cop discovers a local task force is hiding a secret that puts the residents of his childhood neighborhood in danger. First of all, love Justin Long but I don’t always end up watching a lot of his movies because he likes to do horror. Do another Rom Com! But he’s in this and plus there seems to be a large black cast, including R.J. Cyler who I like so I’d give it a gander.
The Beauty- Jan 21 (FX): Partners Drew Foster and Kara Vaughn investigate “the Beauty” STD causing aesthetic effects but proving lethal, evading corrupt officials and a mercenary targeting them amidst a suspected government conspiracy. Only because Anthony Ramos is in this and he looks amazing.
Mercy – Jan 23: In the near future, a detective stands on trial accused of murdering his wife. He has 90 minutes to prove his innocence to the advanced A.I. Judge he once championed, before it determines his fate. I can’t say I’m super into this and I don’t really enjoy Chris Pratt like that, but the premise seems interesting. Reminds me of Minority Report, which I like that movie.
Bridgerton S4 – Jan 29(Netflix): The eight close-knit siblings of the Bridgerton family look for love and happiness in London high society. This season focuses on Benedict and it’s like a Cinderella type of story. Unfortunately, I’m not excited for this season, I don’t care about Benedict unfortunately. Nothing has topped S2 for me, Kanthony supremacy. But I’m goin to watch though.
Send Help – Jan 30: Two colleagues become stranded on a deserted island, the only survivors of a plane crash. On the island, they must overcome past grievances and work together to survive, but ultimately, it’s a battle of wills and wits to make it out alive. I haven’t watched a trailer for this yet but I like Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien so I’d like to check it out.
February
Dracula – Feb 6: When a 15th-century prince denounces God after the loss of his wife he inherits an eternal curse: he becomes Dracula. Condemned to wander the centuries, he defies fate and death, guided by a single hope – to be reunited with his lost love. Christoph Waltz collecting gothic horror characters huh, first Frankenstein and now Dracula? But I haven’t seen a trailer yet but I think revisiting Dracula is always fun and Caleb Landry Jones is Dracula and he’s a creepy little dude.
Whistle – Feb 6: A misfit group of unwitting high school students stumble upon a cursed object, an ancient Aztec Death Whistle. They discover that blowing the whistle and the terrifying sound it emits will summon their future deaths to hunt them down. This is usually not a horror movie I’d want to see but I like some of the young cast in this and I might give it a watch.
The Burbs – Feb 8 (FX): A young couple moves back to the husband’s childhood home, only to face threats from new neighbors and uncover dark secrets of their cul-de-sac. I’m here to see what Keke Palmer is up to.
GOAT – Feb 13: A small goat with big dreams gets a once-in-a-lifetime shot to join the pros and play roarball, a high-intensity, co-ed, full-contact sport dominated by the fastest, fiercest animals in the world. Really only because of Caleb McLaughlin and I want to support his projects now that Stranger Things has concluded. I know people keep saying he should play Miles Morales, I disagree. Miles should be an Afro-Latino actor. Caleb could be plenty of other comic book characters. I wouldn’t hate him as Static.
Cold Storage – Feb 13: When a highly dangerous fungus escapes from a secret laboratory, a former bioterrorism agent is called back into action. Alongside two young employees, he must confront an invisible and out-of-control threat. I saw a trailer when I saw something at the movies and I thought it looked fun.
Wuthering Heights – Feb 13: A passionate and tumultuous love story set against the backdrop of the Yorkshire moors, exploring the intense and destructive relationship between Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw. I’ve never read the book, I have no idea what the story is, outside of what my friend told me during her read. The movie seems like a poor adaptation but I could watch it.
March
Bride! – March 6: In 1930s Chicago, Frankenstein asks Dr. Euphronius to help create a companion. They give life to a murdered woman as the Bride, sparking romance, police interest, and radical social change. I mean sure… why not.
Project Hail Mary – March 20: An astronaut tries to save Earth while alone in outer space. I don’t tend to care about space movies but I feel like I might enjoy this.
Mother Mary – March 20: Long-buried wounds rise to the surface when iconic pop star Mother Mary reunites with her estranged best friend and former costume designer, Sam Anselm, on the eve of her comeback performance. I don’t know anything really, but I like the cast!
They Will Kill You – March 27: A woman takes a job as a housekeeper in a NYC high-rise, unaware of the building’s history of disappearances. She soon realizes the community is shrouded in mystery. Seems interesting and I like a lot of the cast.
April
May
Mortal Kombat II – May 8: The fan favorite champions — now joined by Johnny Cage himself — are pitted against one another in the ultimate battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders. Honestly, I’m just here for Ludi Lin and while I don’t know the lore for MK, adding Cole to the cast in the first movie was a choice because he was so boring. It should have followed Liu Kang. But it doesn’t seem like Cole is in this one so that’s nice lol. I spoke too soon, he has a character poster even if he’s not listed in the cast list on IMdB.
Obsession- May 15: After breaking the mysterious “One Wish Willow” to win his crush’s heart, a hopeless romantic finds himself getting exactly what he asked for but soon discovers that some desires come at a dark, sinister price. There was a little teaser that I thought was interesting so sure.
June
Masters of the Universe – June 5: A young man on Earth discovers a fabulous secret legacy as the prince of an alien planet, and must recover a magic sword and return home to protect his kingdom. I actually don’t care but I’m gonna watch it.
Disclosure Day – June 12: If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? The trailer was eerie.
Toy Story 5 – Jun 19: Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the rest of the gang’s jobs are challenged when they’re introduced to electronics, a new threat to playtime. Listen, I love Toy Story but let’s move on okay? But I’m gonna watch it.
Supergirl – Jun 26: It follows Kara Zor-El’s story and her darker origin before she finally made her way to Earth. I liked Superman, and her cameo was fun so I’m interested. I haven’t seen a trailer either but once I do, that might move this to the actual anticipation list.
July
August
One Night Only – Aug 7: On the sole night when premarital sex is permitted, two strangers desperately search for partners in their restrictive society. This is an interesting premise and it has Maya Hawke in it who I think it’s a good actress so I’ll take a look.
Flowervale Street – Aug 14: A family in the 80s start to notice bizarre happenings in their neighborhood. I know nothing but it’s Anne Hathaway.
September
How to Rob a Bank – Sept 4: Bank robbers are posting their heists on social media, causing police to chase them. Nicholas Hoult and Zoe Kravitz are robbers posting content online, sure why not lol.
Clayface – Sept 11: A shape-shifting creature made of magical clay haunts Gotham City, alternating between villain and ally of Batman. Multiple tragic figures have taken on the Clayface mantle over the years. This guy is a tragic figure so sure.
Charlie Harper – Sept 25: Harper and Charlie try to build a life together. While Harper strives to carve out a career as a chef, Charlie is stuck. Facing challenges in their relationship, they struggle to prove they are meant for each other, but will it be enough? Nick Robinson back on my screen? I haven’t seen him in a while!
October
Digger – Oct 2: The most powerful man in the world embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything. I haven’t seen a trailer or anything but Tom Cruise in a comedy and not necessarily an action movie? That’s fun!
Street Fighter – Oct 16: Street Fighters Ryu and Ken reunite when Chun-Li recruits them for the World Warrior Tournament. As they face a hidden conspiracy, they must confront each other and their past-or face destruction. I don’t have much of an opinion but I was surprised to see Noah Centineo as Ken and I almost didn’t recognize him, but in a good way lol.
November
Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol – Nov 13: A thrilling ghost story set in Dickens’ London, following one man’s supernatural journey to face his past, present and future as he fights for a second chance at redemption. I love a Christmas Carol, it’s a timeless story. I’ve always loved Johnny Depp and he’s playing Scrooge apparently. I don’t know if this means he hiding behind a lot of makeup again, probably lol but I’m interested.
December
Jumanji 3 – Dec 11: The fourth and final installment in the Jumanji franchise, it is the direct sequel to Jumanji: The Next Level, the third film in the series. I love the original Jumanji and I really enjoyed the newer ones, they were surprisingly fun and good. So I think this one could hopefully maintain that.
Werewulf – Dec 25: In medieval Britain, a mysterious creature stalks the foggy countryside, transforming local folklore into terrifying reality as villagers face an ancient supernatural threat. I don’t really have an opinion but Aaron Taylor-Johnson I’m assuming is the werewulf? Let’s go. I also find it funny that he, Lily Rose Depp and Willem Dafoe were all in Nosferatu and are reuniting in another gothic horror story.
DATES TBD
It Ends: Friends on a late-night food run become trapped on an infinite highway with otherworldly terrors lurking beyond. Confined in their Jeep Cherokee, they must decide whether to accept their fate or attempt escape. No thoughts, just saw a black girl and I’m like oh!
House of the Dragon: An internal succession war within House Targaryen at the height of its power, 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen. Unfortunately, I feel like I watch this just stay on top of it and talk to my sisters about it. I prefer Game of Thrones (besides S7-S8).
Looks like that’s it for now! Movies and shows always pop up throughout the year that may not be on the list but that doesn’t mean I won’t see them lol.
